IT WAS HIM: THE MANY MURDERS OF ED EDWARDS
This was the opening title sequence to the Paramount Network show about infamous serial killer, Ed Edwards. Produced by long time collaborators “Turn Left Productions”, I had the opportunity to make a very moody piece to help frame each episode. The elements were filmed in a small (and very smokey) studio. We were provided a number of JPGs of crime scene photos (yes really), fingerprints, etc, which then needed to look authentic when filmed. I devised a method of printing each photo, then aging them through strategic lighter burns, sandpapering corners, and generally kicking them around until they were juuust right. I then combined those with acetates, filmed over a light table, that could then be layered an combined in post. It all came together in one very atmospheric and creepy piece.
I provided a number of roles for this, acting as Director, Editor, Animator, Designer & Compositor… also, those are my hands (i’m famous!).
